Phantasma
Transparent cerulean bubbles float
Drifting over long limbs,
Disappearing as they land upon soft skin.
Glowing orbs cocoon a gentle being
Illuminating iridescent eyes,
Light bringing forth the otherworldly ethereal.
She creates kaleidoscopes with fingertips
Exhaling vibrant air,
While phantasmic bubbles float into illusion.

This one started with wanting to make something alien-looking without leaning on sci-fi clichés. I collaborated with a designer on 3D-printed and hand-formed pieces — a neckpiece, a crown, fabric and metal clothing — built specifically so they'd look like they belonged to something not quite human.
I shot the whole thing in my makeshift studio at the time, with glass spheres hung from the ceiling to act like floating bubbles in the background, plus a bubble machine running throughout the shoot for the real ones drifting through frame. The idea was a being caught somewhere between material and immaterial — something built out of both organic and constructed parts, existing in its own world rather than ours.

I used Kodak Gold 200 alongside Revolog Plexus, which is a pre-exposed film with its own built-in geometric, crystalline pattern baked into every frame. That pattern became part of the image itself, not just an effect added after. Gold 200 handled the more grounded color work, while Plexus gave the otherworldly texture running through everything.
The handmade crown and clothing were built to catch and reflect light, so they added another layer of complexity to frames that were already stacking multiple unpredictable elements on top of each other.
